Marty's Travels

My house has wheels

Still in Deming

Tomorrow I take my house in to see what’s wrong with one axle. I need to get it fixed as I’m planning on San Antonio before heading south to Corpus Christie and the Rio Grande Valley for a couple of months of birding, BBQ, and tamales.

Assuming I get it fixed quickly(no guarantee) I’ll be out of here on Friday. Here at the Lows Ranch (Loners on Wheels) it’s their annual rally. No doubt I’ll participate when the club goes to Plamosa in Mexico. This will be a big deal in the tiny town.

I was heading to WalMart this morning and got hijacked by one of the “organizers” in the group. Seems someone had lost a load of trash and it was spread all over our road, she needed my truck to haul people and trash. And quick, as folk would be arriving for the rally. Just like that I had a truckful of my-age ladies with bags, trash pickers, plastic bags, and safety vests. They wanted to sit in the bed, readily climbing up and over the tailgate (we were only going a few hundred yards). In 45 minutes we had the road picked up and the bagged trash placed in the proper place for pickup. Not bad, not bad at all. It was fun, and we made a huge difference in how the desert looked.
