My house has wheels

Warm in Yuma

It's 85 this afternoon, and slowly warming up day by day. I like it. The guys are actually doing some real work on my RV this afternoon. I'm not going to look at what they are doing until they finish. I'm not in a rush to get out of here. I almost got pissed off when they presented the insurance check to me for endorsement this morning. "C'mon guys, do the work first". Part of me understands why they do this, but most of me is offended they'd...

Friday

Well, nothing has happened at the body shop. Nothing on my rig, that is. I've learned not to ask anything because I will just be bullshitted. Sooner or later they'll need the space, and the check from the insurance company. So, I'm planning on staying here for a while. One of the utility workers is apparently also a cook, and he set up grills, tables, and a mini-kitchen and made lunch for all the workers (and me). Excellent grilled banana...

Ramblings from the body shop

This morning a car was rolled out from the paint booth, a new Mustang done in chartreuse. It looked great but on closer examination is was gold-flaked, which added a tremendous amount of appeal to the color. Gawd was it beautiful. Then the guys began taping it up for a racing stripe. Grown, oh no that will mess it up. Everyone in the shop agreed. They hate doing it but the customer wants it. The big black swipe down the middle from the front to...

Camping at the Body Shop

When I came into the body shop first thing Monday, I saw that there wasn't a full-hookup parking place after all. Well, there is a water spigot nearby in the shop, and an outdoor outlet next to me, but it's used all day long by the workers. Last night I had dinner with Dave and Kathy and joked that I might still be camped here on Friday. Since it's now end of day Tuesday and no work has been done, that is probably not a joke. I've been promised...

Lost wheel saga, repair the sheet metal

I found a shop to repair the bent sheet metal from my wheel problem. They recommended I open an insurance claim, which I did, and it sounds like it will work out to my advantage. They have full hookup parking in their lot, so I'll move into the shop's lot on Monday morning for a few days (I hope). I'm looking forward to getting this fixed....

Pot: Washington sets a new sales record

January sales on retail cannabis products reached $77 million, a new monthly record. This after a small tax reduction (taxes are folded into the sales prices) and after Oregon came online with retail sales. This surprising, and steady, increase in sales is possibly because customers of the illegal medical marijuana stores are moving to retail as they anticipate the demise of their favorite medical stores. Then too, the winters in the PNW might...

Pot: The Legislatures do what they do

Washington will be looking at some "touch-up" bills that address a few minor things, Oregon is working on their rules, Alaska is finishing up their rules, and Colorado will begin work next week on their latest marijuana freak-out. California is trying to fix an error they made in their law, which won't be followed anyway. Bills submitted in Washington reduce the cannabis tax from 37% to 25% to get a tad closer to Oregon's. Other bills allow...

Back in Yuma

I saw a lot of people in Quartzsite, and missed several. But it was getting old and I need to arrange to get my RV fixed (sheet metal damage from the lost wheel incident). I left Steve and Sandy all alone, the rest of the crew already moving along. It's warm today, but cooler weather will roll in this weekend.

The Exodus

I like Quartzsite, but not during the Amazing Huge Tent Show which attracts very big crowds. Today the exodus started, making getting around town a lot easier. Several folks came by for a night or two, or even just a visit. Now it's just me and the Allgires and it looks like we'll be that way for a few more days. Steve helped me today to replace a slide-out weather seal, and while I was up on the roof I lowered my panels. The weather has not...

Q

Steve and Sandy landed here yesterday and I got a good dinner. Today Rick and Terry arrived. No idea who is next to show up. Quartzsite is getting busy now, the highway is downright dangerous. I don't like this time in Q, the worst being next week. Luckily we have our place here. Weather is clear and sunny, but cold (39). All is well....

Moved at Quartzsite

I relocated to La Posa South today to the spot that several of us tend to meet up every year. Others will be showing up soon. La Posa North was nice. I had a good high spot, and it was basically in town. The drawback is that it will get very crowded now and for the next three weeks. No idea when I'll leave....

Pot: Washington December Sales

Sales reported from the stores were $75 million in December in Washington State, the second highest month recorded, consistent with the three previous months. Using the last few months, it can be said annual sales are $900 million. As usual in Washington, that figure does not include the untracked medical marijuana stores, which are being folded into the retail system this year. Some guesses are that means another $900 million when fully...
