Here I am again, at the usual spot. Nothing big planned, some bookstore crawling, a couple of rv parts, and look at some other places to park. I like my new sunglasses. These were meant for driving, and they work great. My old glasses were polaroids, but they became impossible when trying to see LCD screens like gas pumps and small electronic gadgets. I'll be here about a week.
It's expected that California will develop a "comprehensive" set of laws and rules that will bring awe from all other states and most countries. Here's one agency that imposes rules and procedures on cannabis farmers: North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Cannabis Cultivation Waste Discharge Regulatory Program. I think it has to do with water. It appears that you might get by this hurdle with only around $7500, but it could go as...
Yuma again. This time it's to get new glasses, but first I need an updated prescription. Yes, I know prescriptions are free in Algodones, but my circumstances are that I need a more high-level exam. Dave and Kathy arrived yesterday, and Ron and Linda are their neighbors. So I'll go over for happy hour tomorrow. Much warmer now, in the seventies, clear and dry.
There are proposals and bills in states all over the country right now, but I confine myself to watching the western sates. Nevada Nevada brought up a medical program quickly and smoothly, and is now writing the rules for a retail environment which was recently passed. They will give preference for the retail operations to those already in the medical program, about 120 operators. It's anticipated that temporary rules might apply in July to...
It's been cold here, though it's been sunny. The wind makes it downright miserable sometimes, so I spend a lot of time holed up indoors. The tent show ends tomorrow, and even now the number of RVs is dwindling fast; it's much easier getting around town now. I'll be here until at least through next week, or until I run out of water, then I'll head back to Yuma.
The whole idea of Quartzsite is outdoor markets and malls, and when the weather turns bad, it's a real bummer. We're at the southern end of the storm that has covered the entire west coast. That's a remarkable thing in itself. Here, winds are gusting to 35, and rain is expected. Radar says it will get much wetter tonight, flooding all the roads. The Big Tent Show opens in the morning. I'm in a good place to wait it out.
The tent show starts this Saturday, and as usual the roads are filled with RVs. I don't much like this time of year here because it gets tough to get around town. Ron and Linda are parked where I'm at, but no one else has showed up yet. Could be quiet here. Rain is coming in for the next few days. One never knows what the forecasted showers will bring in: we could be in for a major mud event. Or just a few clouds. At any rate, we're on a high...
I'm back in Quartzsite. Our regular gathering spot got pre-empted by another group, which was pre-empted by yet another group. While I was working that out, Ron and Linda showed up, and we'll figure out what to do tomorrow. In the meantime we're fine here at the old spot, unless a few more rigs show up, then we'll need more space. The big show doesn't happen for a week, but things are starting to fill up. Weather is coolish, but sun is expected.
I mentioned that I'd be bouncing back and forth between Yuma and Quartzsite. Now, I'm back in Yuma. The weather is getting better, much warmer. It's back to Q next week, likely until things dissolve away there.
Came the First and activity picked up a lot around here. The vendors are almost all set up, and RV traffic in the area is high. The weather hasn't been the greatest. There was a lot of rain on New Year's, and the water was flowing in the washes. I've had to keep a close eye on my batteries as the cloud cover has been complete at times. It makes for some dandy sunrises and sunsets, though. I might go down to Yuma this week for a little bit, then...
Cannabis sales in Washington in 2016 will come in at $1.365 Billion, and of that the state collected $291 Million in marijuana excise taxes. Colorado won't have the year-end numbers for another couple of months, but their sales should be pretty close to Washington's. Oregon and Alaska markets are so new the figures are almost meaningless at this time. Washington's taxes are the highest of any of the legal states, and I anticipate they will be...
After watching the results of the November election, several states that did not propose any cannabis measures will be filing bills in their legislatures, but don't expect many to actually pass anything. Even in the states that passed laws in 2016, FUD over the Trump administration will cause hesitations and delays in rules development and implementation. Arizona will try to pass a "decriminalization" bill for non-medical consumers. Decrim...
