My house has wheels

Warming up here

My friend Gracie found me the other day after she had been parked just a few rigs away from me. She rounded up some more of her friends from the place and we had a nice happy hour last evening. Unfortunately some pulled out today; Gracie heading into town for hookups before record-setting warm temperatures set in this weekend. It might get into the nineties which is fine by me. Remember, the desert cools off at night a lot no matter how warm the day.

Sometime next week I’ll likely head for the Slabs, or maybe Quartzsite first. Q is normally about 5 degrees cooler than Yuma, and the Slabs run about 5 degrees warmer, maybe more. So I’ll decide after seeing what it’s like next week.

It’s been so dry this winter that there certainly will not be a desert flower display this season. I suppose something dramatic could happen weather-wise, but there’s nothing in the forecast. Just in case, my plan is to head to Death Valley as soon as weather and conditions permit. Which won’t happen.

The VFW/BLM spot is a 14-day limit place, but it’s lacked a volunteer host all season. No host, no registration or census. No census, no enforcement. Almost always the boondockers are friendly, cooperative, and conscious of others’ comforts so there’s no need for BLM supervision. So, might as well stick around as long as I like.
