This is a very pretty place, and one of the top battlefields to see. As usual the visitor center has exhibits and a movie to get oriented, then its a driving tour through miles of monuments, statues, and sign posts honoring those that served and explaining the details of the long siege for control of the Mississippi River.
Vicksburg is notable because it highlights the role of the navies in the Civil War. There’s a recovered ironclad boat exhibit on the grounds, most intriguing.
Nasty weather forecast for tomorrow, so I’ll be trapped indoors all day. It looks to me like I’m in a good spot for the water, but it will be wet.
