Marty's Travels

My house has wheels

Really, really stupid people

For stupid our attention has been directed towards DC lately, and rightfully so. It’s the Super Bowl, the World Cup, the World Series of stupid. And it was a helluva game.

But let’s not overlook the minor leagues, where the future thrills will be coming from. Those acts and achievements headed towards destiny.

Take Christine Jones who is running for Governor of Arizona (GOTP). She referred to her state’s border issues as along the Rio Grande River. It took me a minute or two to recall my travels in Arizona, which amazingly enough covers nearly all of that border. The Rio Grande is not there, nor is any river. It is desert. The Rio Grande is 45 miles east of where I am, in Hatch, New Mexico. I suspect she is from Phoenix.

Or the “boy scout leaders” in Utah that posted a film of themselves toppling a rock in Goblin Valley State Park. Now, I’ve visited a few national, state, and local parks and have without exception seen the signs that say something like “This park is for the enjoyment of all. Please don’t touch the rocks or artifacts. [Sounds good to me]. Violators will be subject to fines or imprisonment. [Sounds good, again]. Contact Park Ranger. [Sounds like a plan].” This message is on every single park in the US, and I’m kinda amazed the boy scouts and the LDS church haven’t noticed it here and there.

I see some good Congressional material here, the up-and-comings. A good attitude towards the environment, a firm grasp on our nation’s border issues.
