I drove 8 hours straight from Bandon to Chimacum, got parked and am now wondering how long I’ll be here. The Escapee park is closed to travelers, open only to leaseholders. The buildings are locked up so there’s little chance of contact with other people.
Downtown Port Townsend looks like a scene from Twilight Zone: A perfectly set-up tourist town ready to go but without a person or vehicle in sight. The grocery store was about usual, except for a load of new employees. At the Port, the Alaskan fishing fleet is in for seasonal maintenance and seems to be normal. This is not a cruising time of year but the Port is not taking transient moorage requests.
I gave up on even trying for a haircut, but I am on the search for a laundry. And who knows what other obstacles lies ahead….
