The more I look at the situation in Sonoma, the worse it gets. While I am still several days away, maybe even weeks, there is plenty of fire danger in Northern California to make me hesitant. It would be easy to be on 101 with fire to the front, fire to the rear, mountains on the left, the sea to the right.
Even if they get rain and the winds stop, they won’t be able to absorb tourists for a while.
I’ll continue watching, but now my plan is to head east at Coos Bay and pick up I-5 (ugh). The fire potential is very high there, too, but there are more escape routes…
