My house has wheels

Moving South

I’ll head to Colorado Springs tomorrow, which involves getting through Denver.

The weather has been perfect; warm during the day, cool at night. I took a day trip to Estes Park, a favorite of mine. The road has been restored since the flood last year. It’s a little odd to see a road constructed in the river through a rock canyon, but you see a lot of strange roads in Colorado. Damage from the flood is everywhere, debris is on the river banks. Quite a mess.

The towns around here (Loveland, Ft Collins, Greeley) are pretty much thriving, modern, livable, and in an outstanding location. A four-season place climate-wise. I like the access to the mountains, but my eye has been on the plains to the east.

I liked downtown Fort Collins, a very nicely maintained walking place with small specialty shops. Nice people, places to sit and watch, not particularly touristy. A real downtown in a real city. And I could spend a week looking at the sculptures and bronzes in Loveland.

Nice area.
