My house has wheels

Tokitae

A nice day on the Peninsula is azure skies, intensely green trees, snow-topped mountains, vibrant strait and bay colors, and vivid Spring wildflowers. The Indians that lived around here (and still do) would naturally have a word for these days, a greeting, mornings perhaps, “Tokitae” which means “nice day, pretty colors”. Tokitae days are special days here, worth having a word of their own.

I spent the day in the warm sun just wandering around Port Townsend, sitting and watching the people, the boats, and the gulls. The Free Speech Guy got his third ticket over the weekend, now he’s an accused criminal and will be going to court. Today his exhibit exactly matched the limits imposed by city ordinance.

The space he freed up was occupied by a nice lady I chatted with seeking signatures on an initiative to limit corporate influence on politics in the US. I plead not being a local voter, and thought (to myself) that maybe she was taking on a bigger issue than she understood. But hey, it’s worth a shot.

The boat yard is very busy, Alaskan boats getting ready to return north, summer cruisers getting things up to snuff, everything is going full blast right now. Every day there is stuff happening.

I’ll sign off on a lot here in the park tomorrow, the offer today was just what I wanted. More tomorrow.
