Marty's Travels

My house has wheels

A Real Storm Hits California

It’s a bit windy here at the Salton Sea, blowing dust with just enough rain now and then to paint my vehicles with mud. Over in San Diego the water is more plentiful, causing more a mess than being helpful.

I took a quick drive through Slab City and was impressed at how it’s being cleaned up over the years. I saw a tour bus going through. A tour bus? At Slab City? Anyway, as the trash gets removed the place starts to take on an artsy feel. Oh there’s still the poor, the mentals, the hippies, the desert rats, with their obsessive eclectic ways, but when it gets toned down a bit it’s easier to see the creativity that desperate humans will use to survive.

Storm will continue tonight and through tomorrow, so I’m just sitting it out.
