Marty's Travels

My house has wheels

Tucson

Back at Snyder Hill, on San Joaquin Road for a few days. The weather is much milder here, and I can get away from hookups and parking fees. Hopefully I’ll be dry-camping for the next few months so I can bank a bunch of money.

I’ve been watching “Green Wednesday” in Colorado today; in about a month they will start answering questions that impact the business in Washington. Washington won’t be selling (and making the news) until May or June. While Colorado opened the retail operations from existing Medical Marijuana establishments, Washington regulations say it starts when a cutting is planted in soil, as nothing else is legal.

So if none of the existing stock in Washington is legal, where do the cuttings (or seeds) come from? There will be a two-week period of time when the regulators go out of the country for a vacation and the starting materials will magically appear in Washington, likely from California, Colorado, British Columbia, and Washington. These will be declared legal and the growing can begin. Think it like this: Raising chickens is now legal, but chickens and eggs were illegal until today. How do you raise chickens?

It will take at least a decade to sort out the weirdness of this repeal of a prohibition.
