Last year about this time I was heading to Marathon, Florida. Amazing coincidence.
I’m at the Marathon Motel and RV Park, an especially nice place that is cheap, roomy, and the scenery is great (Big Bend Country). I’ll sit here for the holiday because they have good wifi and I hope to skype the grandkids tomorrow. Now, when I say this is a nice place, I’m not referring to green lawns and lakeside beaches. This is west Texas; “nice” means the trashy vehicles are neatly confined to one corner of the place.
It’s cold, and will get colder (25 or so tomorrow). But, and this is a big one, the wind is being kind.
Seen Today: Just as I got on US90 this morning a Mayflower moving truck cut me off while passing at high speed. For some ridiculous reason the limit is 75 on this two-lane road. Later, I passed him as the cops had him pulled over. A while later the bastard did it again to me (we might have well have been the only two vehicles on the road). And, he was pulled over again. I can understand wanting to get home for the holiday, but he was pushing it big-time. I hope he made it, without taking out anybody along his route.
