Marty's Travels

My house has wheels

Knocking around in the PNW

The weather has been nice and I’ve been out looking around the towns and sights, stopping in at favorite eateries, and getting estimates on truck repairs. I did get over to Seattle to see the family, all are fine. Good to see the grandkids.

The dam removal project is stopped for the time being while they figure out what to do with sediment outflow. Near the mouth, the water looks like glacial runoff you see high in the mountains, silvery-gray rather than brown. Interesting.

The Liquor Control Board (whose duties were almost completely eliminated) today released their draft laws for regulation and taxation of cannabis production and sale. Adding more mish-mash to the hilarious confusion of laws regarding pot in this country. They divide the business into 3 categories: producer, processor, and seller. Each pays an excise tax of 25%. Sounds a bit high, but doing a calculation based on recent California prices, retail prices can still come in below black-market prices, a requirement if this is going to work.

Oh, when I went over to Seattle on the ferry, I paid two fares, both different, one wrong. Five years of riding the ferry, five years of not knowing what I’ll be charged. Something tells me cheaper weed will make that problem worse, not better….
