My house has wheels

Farmington, New Mexico

I’m in Farmington, NM, which is exactly where I wanted to go but am here under entirely different circumstances.

My brother died on Saturday in Yakima, WA.

My plan today was to move to the Farmington fairgrounds where I could sit for cheap. Talk to folk, find out what’s happening with Glenn.

I was in Aztec, on the way to Farmington, and noticed I was missing a wheel on the trailer. Wheel gone. Just axle spindle showing. I’m going down the road on three wheels.

Fuck. I’ll never find an exact replacement for the wheel.

Now, most all of my regular readers will know I have some experience with catastrophic failures of tires, wheels, and axles. This time, I find myself in what might be the country’s premier place for axles and wheels.

Call Coachnet, explain I need a jack and chain, they send out service to chain the axle up so I can limp into Al’s Trailers, who sends me to Gene’s, an axle specialist, who refers me to Mom and Pops Rv Park just around the corner, which turns out to be one of the most interesting RV parks I’ve seen. Gene’s will fix the axle tomorrow.

So I’m in Mom and Pops with three wheels.

This is one of the coolest RV parks I’ve seen. More on that later.
