The mayor of Seattle says that all of the medical marijuana establishments in the city are illegal, therefore he proposes that half be licensed by the city, and the other half destroyed. Only career politicians are capable of this logic, and are willing to say it.
No one knows how many such places exist, and there are no standards expressed for how to decide who gets a license and who gets destroyed. People discussing this issue use the term “good guys” to describe who should get licenses, but I don’t know the politically correct term for those to be destroyed. Good guys are usually described as being in business before Jan 1, 2013, holding a city business license, and current on city and state taxes.
I presume it will be months before the details get worked out, and then everything will end up in court anyway.
