I took a day trip to Estes Park, a favorite of mine.  The road has been restored since the flood last year.  It&#8217;s a little odd to see a road constructed in the river through a rock canyon, but you see a lot of strange roads in Colorado.  Damage from the flood is everywhere, debris is on the river banks.  Quite a mess.<\/p>\n<p>The towns around here (Loveland, Ft Collins, Greeley) are pretty much thriving, modern, livable, and in an outstanding location.  A four-season place climate-wise.  I like the access to the mountains, but my eye has been on the plains to the east.<\/p>\n<p>I liked downtown Fort Collins, a very nicely maintained walking place with small specialty shops.  Nice people, places to sit and watch, not particularly touristy.  A real downtown in a real city.
