Port Angeles (&#8220;PA&#8221;) is where ships from the seven seas must stop to pick up a pilot who knows the waters through the Strait, through the San Juans, into Seattle and Tacoma, and into Canadian waters.<\/p>\n<p>PA&#8217;s history is logging, fishing, timber mills, fish processors, flophouses for seamen, brothels, and bars.  Now it&#8217;s scents and soaps, coffee places, chain restaurants, big box stores, antique stores, retirement housing.  The Peninsula used to be &#8220;rough&#8221;, now it&#8217;s tourist.  I would like more of the rough around here, at least one place that still retains the old character.
