But this time I&#8217;m checking out the &#8220;heart-healthy&#8221; options available at them.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on where you are this can be easy or difficult. Deming has what I call &#8220;American&#8221; style Mexican food, heavy on cheese and refried beans.  That&#8217;s different than Santa Fe style, or Tex-Mex.<\/p>\n<p>Finding dishes lower in fats and dairy is a tad tough here, but can be done (there&#8217;s always tacos).  What&#8217;s a real pisser is when you order an otherwise good dish and discover it&#8217;s loaded with sodium, usually on the meat which is completely over seasoned.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m keeping my chile cheeseburgers to one a week while I&#8217;m in NM, which I regard as &#8220;heart healthy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Weather here has been much wetter than normal, and I have yet to see a dust storm, which is very unusual&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deming has a lot of Mexican restaurants, one of the reasons I like being here.
