And I don’t want corn in December, I want citrus. Yesterday I tried their corn.

First, my bias. I grew up on Yakima Valley corn, and regard it as the gold standard. But any sweet corn picked in August is good for me.

The corn was freshly picked, though I’ve not seen any corn fields around here. Small ears, though. I usually simmer corn in a pot, breaking the ears in half before they go in. I always turn my head when breaking so the juices don’t hit my glasses. Good thing I did, as the corn was squirty. Good sign.

Flavor was a disappointment. There was a distinct plant-like flavor, and very little sugar. I ate what I cooked, and tossed the rest. And started thinking about Yakima corn.

Avoid Yuma corn. It’s not what you want.

I’ve had a favorite produce stand in Yuma ever since I’ve been on the road.
